Title of plenary talk: Materials and Concepts for Printed Photovoltaic Technologies

Christoph J. Brabec is holding the chair “materials for electronics and energy technology (i-MEET)” at the materials science of the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. Further, he is the scientific director of the Erlangen division of the Bavarian research institute for renewable energy (ZAE Bayern, Erlangen), board member of the ZAE Bavaria and board member of the Energy Campus Nurnberg.
He received his PhD (1995) in physical chemistry from Linz university, joined the group of Prof Alan Heeger at UCSB for a sabbatical, and continued to work on all aspects of organic semiconductor spectroscopy as assistant professor at Linz university. He joined the SIEMENS research labs as project leader for organic semiconductor devices in 2001, finished his habilitation in physical chemistry in 2003 at Linz university and joined Konarka in 2004, where he was holding the position of the CTO before joining Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Title of plenary talk: Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering

Antonios G. Mikos is the Louis Calder Professor of Bioengineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University. His research focuses on the synthesis, processing, and evaluation of new biomaterials for use as scaffolds for tissue engineering, as carriers for controlled drug delivery, and as non-viral vectors for gene therapy. His work has led to the development of novel orthopaedic, dental, cardiovascular, neurologic, and ophthalmologic biomaterials. Mikos is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the Controlled Release Society, the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering, the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society, and the National Academy of Inventors. He has been recognized by various awards including the Founders Award of the Society For Biomaterials and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society-Americas.

Title of plenary talk: Nanoparticles: characterization and applications

Prof. Francesco Stellacci got his degree in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 1998 with Prof. Zerbi. He then moved as a post-doc with Prof. J.W. Perry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Arizona. In 2002 he became as assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT (Cambridge, USA). There he became associate professor with tenure in 2009. In 2010, he moved as a full professor to EPFL where he holds the Constellium chair. Stellacci has published more than 130 papers and has more than 15 patent applications. He has won numerous awards, among the the Technology Review TR35 ’top innovator under 35’, the Popular Science Magazine ’Brilliant 10’, and the EMRS EU40. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the Global Young Academy
