2015 Plenary Speakers
Prof. Donal Bradley is the Lee-Lucas Professor of Experimental Physics, Director of the Centre for Plastic Electronics and Vice-Provost (Research) at Imperial College London. He is a co-inventor of conjugated polymer electroluminescence (1989) and a co-founder of Cambridge Display Technology Ltd (1992). He also co-founded Molecular Vision Ltd (2001) and sits on the Board of Solar Press (UK) Ltd. He is a named co-inventor for 25 patent families. Professor Bradley has published 563 ISI journal papers with > 48,800 citations (h-index = 95) and is a 2014 ISI Highly Cited Researcher in Materials Science. His contributions have been recognized by the award of a CBE (2010), Fellowship of the Royal Society (2004) and many prizes including the Royal Society Bakerian Lecture (2010), the Institute of Engineering and Technology Faraday Medal (2010), the Institute of Physics Faraday Medal (2009), The European Latsis Prize for Nanoengineering (2005), The Society for Information Display Jan Rachman Prize (2005) and the EU Descartes Prize (2003). |

Prof. Mercouri Kanatzidis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1957. After obtaining a B. Sc from Aristotle University in Greece, he received his Ph D. in chemistry from the University of Iowa in 1984. He was a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University from 1985 to 1987 and is currently the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University. Mercouri moved to Northwestern in the fall of 2006 from Michigan State University where he was a University Distinguished Professor of Chemistry since 1987.His Research Interests are: Inorganic chemistry, solid state and coordination chemistry of chalcogenide compounds. Design of new materials, exploratory synthesis, thermoelectric materials, nanostructured materials, intermetallics, mesoporous semiconductors, phase-change materials, conducting polymers, intercalation chemistry applications of new materials. He has an h-index of 80, having thus far published some 548 ISI listed publications with > 25000 citations (ISI Web of Knowledge). |
