CORNET H2020 Project

cornet

CORNET is an ambitious project submitted to the H2020 Call NMBP-07-2017, that will develop a unique EU Open Innovation Environment (OIE) covering the triangle of manufacturing, modelling and experimentation in order to optimize the Organic/Large Area Electronic (OE) materials, materials' behaviour and nano-devices (OPVs, PPVs, OLEDs) manufacturing processes.

This will be achieved by linking the nanostructure features with the macroscopic functionality through multiscale (nano to macro) characterization and modelling. This will strongly impact the fast and reliable development of new materials, devices and will enable control of the related production processes (R2R printing and gas transport (OVPD)) to fabricate tailored OE devices and systems to demonstrate to industrial applications (e.g. automotive, greenhouses).

CORNET will develop an OIE Platform and a sustainable Database for documentation of citable & industrially accepted protocols for material & device characterization, modelling and manufacturing and will establish strong links and cooperations with existing EU clusters (as EMMC, EMCC, EPPN), industrial associations, EU networks to increase the speed of OE materials/device development and industry uptake, maximize the acceptance of the OIE and Database and push-through standards for adoption by industry worldwide.

Cutting Edge Nano-Materials

cen mat logo
Cutting Edge Nano-Materials (CEN-Mat) is a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) delivering highly specialized and custom tailored Nano-Materials (NMs).

Although NMs are pretty small and invisible to the human eye many NMs are engineered and placed in our everyday products to enhance their properties. NMs can be found in cosmetics such as face and body lotions, in food and its packaging, in everyday technologies such as smartphones and cars or in medical products such as in contrast agents for the magnetic resonance imaging. The importance of such nano-enabled products to the global economy can be realized when looking at the global revenue growth in the last years from $731 billion in 2012 to $4.4 trillion until today (2018). Yet, using NMs in order to benefit a product through their inherent functionality one needs to functionalize these with respect to the desired properties of the final product and integrate these efficiently and smart into the technology.

This is where the problem starts: NMs currently available on the market are not customized to the customer's needs, thus leaving potential users of NMs representing various industry branches unserved. Additionally the customer is often left alone with the raw NM without being offered a solution for the integration of these into their technology.

To bridge this gap in the value chain CEN-Mat is pursuing a different approach overcoming the massive disadvantages of standard products and services. CEN-Mats approach is based on an adaptive and up-scalable synthesis route delivering custom tailored and highly specialized NM serving the needs of each and every customer individually plus offering solutions on the NMs integration.

These services are especially needed for innovative products and for upcoming technologies developed by R&D focused companies. These companies are unable to approach global players for their material requirement due to the limited volume orders as well as the very specialized material specifications. Thus these companies as well as research institutes and universities will be the primary customers of CEN-Mat taking full advantage of the extensive experience in NM synthesis, the fairly flexible production volumes as well as the consultation around NMs.

EDP Sciences

edp logo
EDP Sciences, Édition Diffusion Presse Sciences, is an STM publisher that works closely with the scientific world. It specialises in the communication and dissemination of scientific information to specialist and general audiences alike (general public, decision-makers, teachers, etc.). EDP Sciences produces and publishes international journals, books, conferences and internet sites with a predominantly scientific or technical content.
EDP Sciences is a publishing house owned by learned societies and run by publishing professionals.

EDP Sciences was founded in 1920 under the name La Société du Journal de Physique et Le Radium. It thus took over the publication of the Journal de Physique (established in 1872) on the occasion of its merger with the journal Le Radium (created in 1904). Among the founders figure the Société Française de Physique and several renowned scientists and industrialists: Antoine Béclère, Louis De Broglie, Marie Curie, Paul Langevin, Louis Lumière, Jean Perrin, and Léon Brillouin, as well as patrons such as Albert I, Prince of Monaco.

The company continued to publish the different sections of the Journal de Physique until the 80s, at which point it started expanding into other areas of physics, particularly astrophysics. Likewise, the company expanded into the publication of books.

Finally, in 1997, it was decided to expand and develop the company in the direction of other scientific communities. This development led the company to change its previous name Les Éditions de Physique to EDP Sciences, which means Édition Diffusion Presse Sciences, in 1998. With almost 50 international online journals (most of them are indexed in the major databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus), as well as about a hundred websites, EDP Sciences is considered as the first independent French editor, concerning the publishing of international academic journals. Many partnerships with European editors, such as Cambridge University Press and Springer, have been developed. EDP Sciences published in different field such as chemistry, general knowledge, mathematics and computer Science, health Sciences & dentistry, physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, engineering & technology, social sciences & humanities and life sciences.

FUJIFILM Dimatix, Inc.

fujifilm logo

FUJIFILM Dimatix's MEMS-based technology lets inkjet printing create products like displays and electronics, RFID antennas, smart tags, solar cells, DNA arrays, smart packaging and wearable electronics. Inkjet printing avoids contamination or damage to substrates because it is an additive, non-contact, process.

The Dimatix Materials Printer DMP-2850 is a low-cost, cartridge-based piezo inkjet printing system that enables direct deposition under digital control of functional fluids - including nanoparticle-based metallic and organic materials - onto virtually any surface, including plastic, glass, ceramics, and silicon, as well as flexible substrates from membranes, gels, and thin films to paper products, over an area of 200 x 300mm. By employing single-use cartridge-based printheads, the DMP-2850 minimizes waste of expensive fluid materials, thereby eliminating the cost and complexity associated with traditional product development and prototyping. The platen can be heated to 60 degrees Centigrade to thermally manage substrates during printing. An integrated drop watcher lets researchers capture and analyze in-flight droplet formation and firing.

FUJIFILM Dimatix, the world's premier provider of piezoelectric inkjet printheads and systems, has more than 35 years of experience in advancing the performance of drop-on-demand dispensing devices and applications, and its state-of-the-art technology provides inkjet solutions in displays, electronics, chemical, life sciences, photovoltaics, 3D mechanical, optical, and other emerging technologies and industries.
