COVID-19 Symposium

The SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that caused millions of deaths worldwide from the beginning of 2020, whereas it has changed our everyday live.

The COVID-19 crisis and pandemic has also mobilized the scientific community in a way that no other situation has before. Currently multiple disciplines are researching the virus, developing diagnosis and treatment methods or a modality to slow its spread. However, the global efforts to predict, control, monitor and cure this disease, demand a multidisciplinary approach.

The role of nanotechnology is pivotal in the fight against COVID-19. Nanomaterials, biosensors, nano-drug systems and personal and medical protective equipment have been used for the development of point-of-care diagnostics, carriers for therapeutics, vaccine development and spread prevention. These efforts have an enormous potential to contribute in controlling and eliminating COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Symposium (within the Workshop 3-Nanomedicine in NN21) in NANOTEXNOLOGY 2021 will present and discuss the latest trends, challenges and possible solutions. You are cordially invited to attend the Symposium by submitting your abstract and your research.

The COVID-19 Workshop Topics include:

  • Viral nano-biology and clinical features
  • Targeting CoV’s life-cycle and nanomedicine strategies
  • Coronavirus Structure and Coronavirus Diagnostics
  • Theranostics and Therapeutics. Basic studies of the nano-bio interactions could be adapted to understand how SARS-CoV-2 infects their cells
  • Nanotechnology approaches for diagnosing COVID-19
  • Cost- effective and rapid point-of-care diagnostics
  • Rapid tests / antibody IgM & IgG tests : sensitivity/specificity/time to results/cost
  • Vaccine development for the disease prevention front
  • Vaccines against CoVs and the role of nanomedicine
  • Drug formulations to treat patients suffering with COVID-19
  • Nanofilters, Nanomaterials, Nano-formulations and Nanoparticles against COVID-19
  • Role of 3D printing against COVID-19: rapid prototyping of highly efficient PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools against COVID-19
  • Antiviral polymer coatings for high traffic surfaces
  • Monitoring the traffic and spreading patterns of viral infections: Nano-biosensors and Biomedical Nanotechnology for viruses and bacteria for quick detection
  • Epidemic Modelling & Predictions
